English Language Education Program at UMNU Collaborates with Sungai Mulia 5 Learning Center for Community Service in Malaysia
Kebumen, Agustus 6, 2022 – The English Language Education program at Universitas Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama (UMNU) Kebumen has embarked on a significant partnership with the Sungai Mulia 5 Learning Center in Malaysia, aiming to enhance English language proficiency among students who are children of Indonesian migrant workers. This collaboration is part of a community service initiative aimed at empowering these young learners with language skills and boosting their self-confidence.
Hastri, a dedicated lecturer from the English Language Education program, highlighted the importance of introducing English language learning at an early age. She emphasized that early exposure to the language can significantly bolster children’s self-esteem and overall linguistic abilities. Additionally, she expressed UMNU Kebumen’s concern for the educational barriers faced by the children of Indonesian migrant workers, who often struggle to access formal education due to various constraints.
The community service program was conducted at the Sungai Mulia 5 Learning Center (SIKL) in Kuala Lumpur on Agustus 5, 2022. The program consisted of interactive language workshops, engaging activities, and creative learning sessions designed to make language learning enjoyable and effective. The UMNU team collaborated closely with the dedicated educators at SIKL to create a dynamic and immersive English language learning environment.
This collaboration not only serves to enrich the language skills of the young students but also fosters cultural exchange and understanding between Indonesia and Malaysia. By addressing the educational challenges faced by the children of Indonesian migrant workers, UMNU Kebumen and Sungai Mulia 5 Learning Center are making commendable strides in contributing to a brighter future for these children.
The joint effort between UMNU Kebumen and Sungai Mulia 5 Learning Center stands as a testament to the power of education and cross-border partnerships. It exemplifies how institutions can collaborate to uplift communities, break down barriers, and equip young learners with the skills they need to thrive in a globalized world.
