CREASI 2026 Attracts 109 Participants from High Schools Across Central Java
UMNU – The English Language Education Student Association (HIMABIG) at Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama University (UMNU) Kebumen once again held an English language competition titled CREASI 7.0. The event took place in the Aswaja Hall at UMNU Kebumen on Saturday (August 29, 2026).
With the theme “The Future Begins with Your Voice,” CREASI 7.0 is one of HIMABIG UMNU Kebumen’s efforts to provide a platform for the younger generation to hone their skills, creativity, and potential, particularly in the use of the English language. This year, the event was attended by 109 participants from various high schools and vocational high schools in the Central Java region. The competition consisted of two categories: the Speech Competition and the Storytelling Competition.
Throughout the competition, participants were enthusiastic about showcasing their individual abilities. They worked to convey their ideas, express themselves effectively, and use English confidently in front of the judges and fellow participants. More than just a competition, CREASI 7.0 also served as an opportunity for students to gain experience speaking in public while boosting their confidence in using English in real-life situations.
The Chair of the CREASI 7.0 Organizing Committee, M. Yusuf Manshur, stated that the event has a broader purpose than simply a competition in English language skills. “The Speech and Storytelling Contest held as part of the CREASI 7.0 event is not merely a platform to showcase language proficiency, but a forum for fostering courage, creativity, and critical thinking among the younger generation in the digital age. “May the achievements in this event serve as a stepping stone for the participants to continue inspiring others in broader spheres,” he said.
One of the things that sets CREASI 7.0 apart from previous years’ events is the involvement of an international panel of judges. This year, HIMABIG UMNU Kebumen welcomed three judges from various countries: Shaka Nsengiyumva Gloire from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sinqobile Amanda Ndhlovu from Zimbabwe, and Abdalrahim Siddig Idris Agadouf from Sudan. The presence of these international judges served as a unique highlight of CREASI 7.0. In addition to providing a more diverse range of evaluation perspectives, their involvement also helped strengthen the international atmosphere of the English language competition organized by HIMABIG UMNU Kebumen.
After the entire competition and judging process were completed, the organizing committee announced the winners in each category. The winners received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes as recognition for their achievements.
Through the organization of CREASI 7.0, HIMABIG UMNU Kebumen hopes that the event will continue to benefit students, particularly by improving their English language skills, creativity, and self-confidence. HIMABIG UMNU Kebumen is also committed to maintaining and expanding this event in the coming years so that it can reach more participants and provide even greater opportunities for the younger generation to showcase their potential.
